Recently, Mr. NDIAYE EL HADJI, Director of Renewable Energy Development at the Ministry of Energy of Senegal, led a 16-member delegation to visit the headquarters of SAJ for an exchange. Accompanied by Ms. Li Tianye, Director of Overseas Business Management of the Central-Southern Design and Research Institute, and Ms. Wang Zhiai, Deputy Chief Economist of the Institute, the delegation engaged in a dialogue spanning thousands of miles, epitomizing Sino-African cooperation in new energy and showcasing SAJ' global capabilities. From demonstrations of smart solar and storage products for residential and commercial scenarios in the exhibition hall to in-depth analyses of the "SAJ Smart Energy" system, the SAJ team demonstrated the robust strength of Chinese enterprises in driving energy transformation with professionalism and enthusiasm.

Warm Reception and Scenario-based Demonstrations
Mr. Zhang Jianming, Assistant to the President of SAJ, Mr. Care Guan, Regional Director for Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and North Africa, and Mr. Stephen Ye, Deputy General Manager of the Product Management Center, warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and accompanied them on a tour of the SAJ headquarters exhibition hall.
In the exhibition hall, SAJ' expert team provided a detailed introduction to the company's development history, smart solar and storage products, and integrated solutions. They showcased participation in virtual power plant (VPP) electricity trading for energy revenue solutions and the global business layout. The delegation showed keen interest in SAJ technological prowess and global presence, frequently stopping to capture innovative details of smart energy management with their cameras and engaging in enthusiastic discussions with the SAJ team.
Subsequently, SAJ organized a symposium. During the meeting, Mr. JM Cheung introduced SAJ’s 20 years of technical expertise in the new energy storage sector, as well as achievements in technological innovation, product application, and international market expansion. The Senegalese delegation highly recognized SAJ’s professional capabilities in the "power generation, storage, consumption + energy operation services" integrated solar and storage solutions and fully affirmed the company's pursuit of "safe, efficient, and high-yield" energy experiences.
Sino-African Collaboration Accelerates Green Transformation
Energy shortages are a common challenge for African nations, and Senegal is at a critical juncture in its energy transition. In recent years, the country has vigorously developed its photovoltaic industry and set a target to increase the share of renewable energy to 40% by 2030, focusing on solar and wind energy.
Chinese enterprises have played a significant role in the development of Africa's photovoltaic industry. To date, the total installed capacity of photovoltaic power stations built through Sino-African cooperation has exceeded 1.5 gigawatts, providing substantial support for alleviating energy shortages and promoting green development in Africa. Senegal is also actively advancing a "fossil energy + new energy" dual-track strategy, aiming to achieve universal electricity access by 2030. Leveraging the leading advantages of Chinese enterprises in photovoltaic technology, large-scale production, and project implementation, Sino-African cooperation is poised to accelerate the take-off of Africa's new energy industry.
Smart Energy Facilitates Digital and Intelligent Upgrades
The delegation also included experts and scholars from the Electricity Department, Hydrocarbons Department, Energy Conservation and Management Agency, and Energy Information Systems Department of Senegal's Ministry of Energy. They focused on building energy efficiency and digital transformation, engaging in in-depth exchanges with the SAJ team on topics such as intelligent building control, automated management, and return on investment in energy equipment.
SAJ's AI-driven smart energy management system—"elekeeper"—sparked enthusiastic responses during the symposium. The system not only supports remote monitoring and management but also optimizes energy use, reduces costs, and increases revenue through AI intelligent prediction and scheduling algorithms, providing innovative solutions for promoting intelligent and low-carbon buildings.
Deepening Cooperation for a Shared Future
This visit by the Senegalese delegation further deepened mutual understanding and trust in the field of new energy between China and Africa. As a pioneer in new energy in West Africa, Senegal is setting an example for renewable energy development in Africa and globally. SAJ, as a leading Chinese enterprise in Sino-African new energy cooperation, will continue to uphold the principles of "openness, cooperation, and win-win," collaborating with global partners to promote the development of green energy in Africa and contribute Chinese wisdom and strength to global energy transformation.
